PNVF sususpendihin ng POC

MANILA, Philippines —  Nakatakdang suspendihin ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) ang Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) sa isasagawang General Assembly nito sa susunod na buwan.

Nauna nang sinuspinde ng International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) ang PNVF noong Biyernes.

Nagpasya rin ang Phi­lippine Sports Commission (PSC) na pansamantalang ihinto ang paglalabas ng pondo para sa naturang national sports association.

Ayon kay POC president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, natanggap na nito ang email ng FIVB na nagsususpinde sa PNVF.

Sinabi ni Tolentino na sinusundan lamang nito ang desisyon ng international federation (IF) na siyang humahawak sa mga national sports association.

“The POC will abide by the decision of the IF. It’s their internal rules, but the POC will always be for the welfare of the athletes, their developmental program and the Olympic movement,” ani Tolentino.

Naglabas ng suspensiyon ang FIVB sa PNVF na pinamumunuan ni Tony Boy Liao kung saan tinukoy nito ang ilang violations ng asosasyon.

”The decision follows serious governance concerns and multiple purpor­ted violations of the FIVB Code of Ethics which are currently under investigation by the independent FIVB Ethics Panel,” ayon sa FIVB.

Bumuo na ang FIVB ng Ad Hoc Committee na siyang pansamantalang mangangalaga sa volleyball sa bansa.

“To ensure stability and proper governance du­ring this suspension and to temporarily oversee the affairs of the PNVF in accordance with the FIVB General Regulations,” ayon pa sa FIVB.

Nakatakda pa namang maging host ang Pilipinas ng Asian Volleyball Confederation Women’s Volleyball Cup na magsisimula sa Hunyo 6 sa Candon City.
