Guce nakaungos na kay Cortez Nilda Moreno

MANILA, Philippines — Naungusan ni former Philippine Sportswriters Association, (PSA) Joc­key-of-the-Year awardee Jessie Guce si class A rider O’Neal Cortez sa “Top 10 Jockeys based on Wins and Placings” simula Enero 1 hanggang July 31, 2019.

Nitong nakaraan lang ay naglabas ang Philippine Racing Commission, (PHILRACOM) ng mga detalye sa programa ng karera at nanguna si Guce na may 83 karerang ipinanalo, 56 na segunda, 51 na tersera at 52 na fourth place.

Nasa pangalawang puwesto si reigning PSA-JoY Cortez na lumikom ng 74 first place, 75 second place, 59 third place at 46 na fourth place habang tersero ang apprentice rider na si PM Cabalejo na nakapagtala ng 55 (1st), 64 (2nd), 55 (3rd) at 47 (4th).

“Magaling na hinete kaya maraming sakay tapos halos lahat tumitimbang,” patungkol ni Mario Garcia na isang beteranong karerista ukol kay Guce.

Si Guce ay anak ng dating star jockey at legend na si Jesus “Bong” Guce at kilala sa tawag na “El Maestro”.

Marami ring bumilib kay Cabalejo dahil bagong hinete pa lang ay nagpapakitang gilas na ito sa pagdadala ng kabayo.

“Magiging Class A yan si Cabalejo, makikita mo naman sa pagdadala at halos lahat ng sakay nasa timbangan,” ani Pablito Quizon, racing aficionado.

Ang mga nasa top 10 ay sina CP Henson, (54-1st, 36-2nd, 43-3rd, 37-4th), John Alvin Guce, (53-41-27-34), EG Guerra, (47-48-46-57), Jonathan Hernandez, (46-36-23-16), CS Pare Jr., (45-38-45-47), Jericho Serrano, (45-38-41-44) at Mark Angelo Alvarez, (40-37-39-34).
