POC Special Exec. Board meeting ngayon

MANILA, Philippines — Inaasahan ang tahimik na pagdaraos ng Special Executive Board Meeting ng Philippine Olympic Committee ngayon alinsunod sa suhestiyon ng International Olympic Committee at Olympic Council of Asia  noong Hulyo 2.

Siyam sa kabuuang 15 miyembro ng POC executive board lamang ang dadalo sa nasabing pagtitipon para itakda ang iskedyul ng General Assembly na inaasahang gagawin sa Hulyo 18 at sa election  para sa mga bakanteng posisyon na balak gawin sa Hulyo 28, ayon sa payo ng IOC at OCA.

Kabilang sa pag-uusapan sa executive board meeting ay ang proposal sa pagbuo ng independent election committee at sa pagpapatawag ng ikalawang sunod na Extraordinary General Assembly upang pagbotohan ang mga nabakanteng posisyon na presidente, chairman at dalawang slots  sa executive board.

Kabilang sa inaasahang dadalo ay sina 1st Vice president Joey Romasanta, 2nd VP Jeff Tamayo, treasurer Julian Camacho, auditor Jonne Go, board members Ro-bert Mananquil at Prospero Pichay Jr., IOC  Rep. to the Philippines

Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski, Frank Elizalde at dating POC president Jose Cojuangco.

Nagsabi nang hindi dadalo ang nagbitiw na POC president  Ricky Vargas gayundin  sina Abraham Tolentino (chairman), Cynthia Carreon (BM), Clint Aranas (BM), Patrick Gregorio (Sec-Gen) at Karen Tanchanco-Caballero (deputy sec-gen).

Nauna nang sinabi ni Tagaytay Congressman Tolentino na susundin niya ang payo ng IOC at OCA na hindi na lamang dadalo para maiwasan ang mga pagtatalo at mga hamon laban sa paksiyon ni Cojuangco.

“Any individual whose position within the Executive Board is disputed and or may subject to any interpretation (namely: Chairman, President and two Executive Board members who have resigned, the position of immediate past president and the position of secretary-general), should abstain from participating in this meeting to avoid any further disputes or challenges and in the interest of the POC as an institution,” sabi nina  IOC Director for Olympic Solidarity and National Olympic Committee (NOC) Relations  James Macleod at Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Director General Hussain Al-Musallam sa kanilang ikatlong sulat na may petsang Hulyo 4.
