Blazers pinulutan ang Perpetual Altas

MANILA, Philippines – Tuluy-tuloy ang pag-taas ng St. Benilde Bla­zers sa team stan­dings ma­tapos pa­dapain ang Per­petual Help Al­tas, 91-87, para masungkit ang pang-pitong panalo kahapon sa 94th NCAA basketball tournament sa FilOil Flying V Center sa San Juan Ci­ty.

Hindi nasindak sina Yankie Haruna at Justin Gutang sa arangkada ni Prince Eze ng Altas at umiskor ng krusyal na baskets sa huling mi­nu­to para umangat ang Bla­­zers sa solo third spot sa 7-3 kartada sa li­kuran ng Lyceum Pirates (10-0) at San Beda Red Lions (9-1).

“I guess if we want to get to the playoffs, we need to win these kind of games, dikdikan talaga, given we didn’t have Eduard Dixon, we lost JJ (Domingo) before the game, we have to fight it through whatever hap­pens, move on and get to the Final Four,” sa­bi ni St. Benilde head coach TY Tang.

Si Gutang ay umani ng 13 points, 6 rebounds at 5 assists.

Kahit humakot ng 36 points, 17 rebounds at 5 blocks ang 6’9  na si Eze ay naglaglag pa rin ang Altas sa 5-5 record.

Samantala, tinalo ng Letran Knights ang Arellano Chiefs, 99-82.

Nagposte si Bong Quinto ng 26 points 12 boards para sa pang-pitong panalo ng Knights.
