Dapudong target ang bakanteng IBO crown

MANILA, Philippines - Tatlong magagandang pa­­nalo ang sasandalan ni Edrin ‘The Sting’ Da­pudong para maisakatupa­ran ang hangaring maging isang world champion.

Haharapin ngayon ni Da­pudong si two-di­vi­sion champion Gideon Bu­thelezi ng South Africa at nakataya sa labanang ga­gawin sa Emperor’s Place Hotel and Casino Re­sort sa Johannesburg, South Africa ang bakanteng International Boxing Or­ganization (IBO) super flyweight belt.

Ito ang ikalawang pagkakataon na aasamin ng 26-anyos na tubong M’Lang, Cotabato ang world title dahil noong Hul­yo 2, 2011 ay napa­laban siya kay WBA fly­weight champion Hernan ‘Tyson’ Marquez sa Me­xico.

Pero bigo si Dapudong at lumasap ng isang third round technical knockout.

Matapos nito ay hina­rap at tinalo ng boksinge­rong alaga ni dating North Cotabato Governor Man­ny Pinol at promoter Aljoe Jaro na sina Jonathan Ri­cablanca, Dondon Ji­me­nea at Nelson Llanos pa­ra iangat ang karta sa 27 panalo sa 31 laban, ka­sa­ma ang 15 KOs.

Ang 26-anyos ring si Buthelezi ay dating hari sa IBO minimumweight at light flyweight divisions.

Tinangka ng kaliwe­teng boksingero na pag-isahin ang light flyweight title ng IBO at WBC pero na­talo siya kay Adrian Her­nandez via second round knockout.
