Pinoy squad magpapasiklab sa ICF World Dragon Boat

MANILA, Philippines — Hahataw ang Pinoy paddlers sa prestihiyosong 2024 ICF Dragon Boat World Championships na gaganapin sa Puerto Prin­cesa City sa Palawan.

Tatakbo ang naturang event mula Oktubre 28 hanggang Nobyembre 4 tampok ang matitikas na paddlers na darating mula sa iba’t ibang panig ng mundo.

May 21 junior male paddlers at walong female paddlers ang kasalukuyang hinahasa ng Philippine Canoe Kayak Federation (PCKF) sa Davao City.

Sinabi ni PCKF President Leonora Escollante na may mga bagong recuits ang asosasyon mula sa Davao City, Iligan City, Zamboanga City, Samal Island, San Miguel, Leyte, Paoay, Ilocos Norte, Cebu City, Cagayan, Manila at Calbayog City.

“The training has been intensive for over a month, and we are committed to ensuring our junior paddlers are competitive on the world stage,” ani Escollante.

Dahil dito, umangat na sa 38 male at 19 female paddlers ang nasa listahan.

Inaasahang papangalanan nina coaches John Paul Selencio at Ronald Tan ang final lineup ng junior team isang buwan bago ang kumpetisyon.

May 20 bansa na ang kumpirmadong darating — mas malaki kumpara sa mga nakalipas na edisyon ng world meet.

Tanging 15 bansa lamang ang lumahok sa 2022 edisyon ng World Cham­pionships sa Racice, Czech Republic.

Matatandaang nasungkit ng Pinoy paddlers ang overall title noong 2018 sa Lake Lanier Olympic Park, Gainesville, Georgia.

Pinagharian ng tropa ang 10-seater at 20-seater senior mixed 200-meter at 500-meter races habang nakapilak ito sa big boat mixed 2000m at small boat men’s 500m.
