Iza napansin kahit kapiraso ang role, ibang klaseng ina ngayong new year

Nasa category ng mahuhusay na artista si Iza Calzado.

Na sabi nga, hindi porke’t maiksi lang ang role mo, hindi ka na mapapansin.

Kahit ang iksi lang ng role ng actress sa MMFF entries na The Kingdom and Green Bones, napansin siya at napuri.

Kaya naman nagpasalamat siya.

Una sa The Kingdom: “Honored to be part of this epic film! So glad schedules and lungs cooperated so I can be part of this world that the brilliant people of The Kingdom created. When it was pitched to me, I knew I had to do it because I love and respect everyone behind this film and really wanted to be part of it. Pitch pa lang, wala pang script yes na kaagad!

“So grateful for the team’s love and for making me feel very appreciated on set and sa credits. Didn’t ask for it but you gave it wholeheartedly. I am so kilig!

“A big bonus for me is working with my B (Piolo Pascual) onscreen after 10 years! Dito talaga, kilig na kilig ako!!,” aniya sa isang post.

Binati rin niya ang Green Bones.

“I knew I wanted to be part of it because it was so well written, a true page turner with inspiring messages that truly touch the heart. I’ve also wanted to work with a lot of the people behind it so I said yes and prayed schedules would work out.”

This year naman ay babawi si Iza.

Ipalalabas ang Caretakers na pinagbibidahan nila ni Dimples Romana ng Rein Entertainment na gaganap na dalawang ina na parehong desperado sa isang mahalagang piraso ng ari-arian ng mga ninuno.

Medyo malalim ang kuwento at sabi nga ni Iza nabubuhay tayo sa hiram na oras at tayo ay mga tagapag-alaga lamang, hindi lamang sa lugar na ating tinitirhan, kundi maging sa mga anak natin.

Aniya sa isang interview namin sa shooting ng nasabing pelikula: “You can treat your children as possessions. But really, we’re just here to guide them—not own them. It’s tough knowing that we have no control over how things will unfold in their lives… Control, I have come to realize, is just an illusion.”

Sinabi rin niyang iba ang atake niya sa Caretakers: “Ibang-iba naman ‘tong character ko rito sa character ko sa Shake Rattle and Roll, and every character, kailangan hanapan ko ng nuance na will make it a little different, kasi, okay, sabi ko, I had some hysterics there, but iba din ‘yung tao at kwento naman din so the challenge would be how I can bring that character to life without them seeming similar, kahit similar demographic, let’s say background.

“It’s a mother’s journey and what a mother is capable of doing para sa mga anak nila, which now I fully understand,” mahabang paliwanag niya sa gagampanang role sa pelikulang mapapanood ngayong 2025.
