MANILA, Philippines — Pinakiusapan kahapon ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ang mga sawsawero na huwag nang sumali sa iringan nina national pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena at athletics chief Philip Ella Juico.
Ito, ayon kay PSC chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez, ay lalo lamang magpapagulo sa nasabing usapin tungkol sa simpleng liquidation compliance.
“We are aware of what’s going on and we are doing our job. People who are not part of this, please stop talking. Allow mediation to come in,” wika ni Ramirez sa virtual session ng Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum.
Pumayag na sina Obiena, ang Southeast Asian Games at Asian record-holder, at Juico, ang pangulo ng Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA), na sumailalim sa mediation process ng PSC.
Makakatuwang ng PSC sa mediation ang Philippine Dispute Resolution Center (PDRC) para maresolbahan ang isyu nina Obiena at Juico.
“Do not add fire to this problem because there are a lot of lessons here,” wika ni Ramirez. “Update the PSC law, govern pro-perly NSA, govern properly POC, athletes while you are popular and have fame, try to be humble. You cannot proceed in life without humility.”
Nag-ugat ang sigalot nina Obiena at Juico nang utusan ng PATAFA ang national pole vaulter na isoli ang coaching fee na 6,000 euros (halos P360,000) ni Ukrainian trainer Vitaly Petrov mula noong Mayo hanggang Agosto ng 2018.
