MANILA, Philippines — Ito na ang pinakahu­ling tsansa ni national taekwondo jin Kirstie Elaine Alora na muling makalahok sa Olympic Games.

Isa lamang ang 30-an­yos na si Alora sa mga Fiipino athletes na nagha­hangad ng tiket para sa 2021 Olympics na gagawin sa Tokyo, Japan bukod kina 2016 Rio de Janeiro silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz (weightlifting), 2016 Asian Games gold medal winner Margielyn Didal (skateboarding), three-time SEA Games queen Kiyomi Watanabe (judo) at 2019 World Championship winner Nesthy Petecio (boxing).

“Sabi ko, make it or break it na po talaga,” wika ng tubong Biñan, Laguna na sasabak sa qualifying tournament sa susunod na taon para sa 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Ipinagpaliban ni Alora ang kanyang pagreretiro para sa layuning makala­rong muli sa quadrennial event matapos noong 2016 sa Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“I think we have a good chance pa rin po to qualify,” sabi ni Alora na humakot ng tatlong gold at apat na silver medals sa pitong beses niyang pagsabak sa Southeast Asian Games.

Nasibak kaagad si A­lora sa first round ng 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics nang yumuko  kay dating Olympic champion María Espinoza ng Mexico.

Sa gitna ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic ay nagsasanay si Alora sa kanyang condominium kasama si national team member Arven Alcantara.

“Talagang powerhouse po sa weight ko sa Asia. So I think I have a good chance for next year’s qualifying,” wika ng Pinay taekwondo jin.

Sina pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena, gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo at bo­xers Eumir Felix Marcial at Irish Magno pa lamang ang nakakuha ng Olympic berth.
