MANILA, Philippines — Matapos mawala ng walong taon ay magbabalik sa eksena ang Arafura Games.
Humigit-kumulang sa 15,000 partisipante ang lalahok sa 2019 Arafura Games na gagawin sa Darwin, Australia simula sa Abril 26.
Magpapadala ang Philippine Sports Commission ng 120-man team ng mga athletes at coaches sa naturang 10-day multi-sports event.
Sinabi ni Marc Edward Velasco, ang PSC National Training Director at delegation Deputy Chef de Mission, na sasabak ang mga Pinoy bets sa 10 sa kabuuang 17 sports sa Arafura Games.
“PSC Chairman William Ramirez's instruction was to send a strong team, to select the best among our players in the developmental level,” wika ni Velasco.
Halos karamihan sa mga atleta ng Philippine delegation ay mula sa Mindanao kasama ang 70 buhat sa Davao City.
Ang iba pang Local Government Units na may atleta ay ang Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Davao del Norte, General Santos at Palawan.
Ang mga nanalo sa Philippine National Games, Batang Pinoy at Palarong Pambansa ang makikita sa aksyon sa Arafura Games.
“Although the Arafura Games is a friendly competition, the level is high given the number and skills of the competitors they will be facing. It is a good exposure,” dagdag pa ni Velasco.
