Lim tumalon sa No. 12 sa ITF rankings

MANILA, Philippines – Sumulong pa sa ika-12 puwesto sa world ranking si Alberto Lim Jr. base sa pinabagong listahan na inilabas ng International Tennis Federation (ITF).

Nakalikom ng karagdagang 60 puntos si Lim matapos makaabot sa boys’ singles quarterfinals ng 52nd Coffee Bowl na isang Grade 1 tournament na ginanap sa San Jose, Costa Rica.

Pinatumba ng 16-anyos na si Lim sina Gabriel Boscardin Dias ng Brazil sa first round, 7-6 (4), 6-2; Francisco Vittar ng Argentina sa second round, 6-1, 6-1 at Olukayode Alafia Damina Ayeni ng United States sa third round, 7-5, 6-4.

Naputol ang magandang ratsada ng Pinoy ne­tter matapos lumasap ng 4-6, 2-6 kabiguan sa kamay ni Jeffrey John Wolf ng Uni­ted States sa Round-of-8.

Tinapos ni Lim ang 2015 season hawak ang ika-22 puwesto kung saan nagkampeon ito sa singles ng China Junior 14 Nanjing, Delhi ITF Juniors at India ITF Junior 1 at sa doubles ng Asian Closed Junior Championship, Seogwipo Asia Oceania Closed Junior Championships, 25th Sarawak Chief Minister’s Cup ITF Junior Tennis Championship at China Junior 14 Nanjing.

Itinanghal din si Lim bilang pinakabatang kam­peon sa 2015 Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open tennis championship noong Setyembre.

Mayroong kabuuang 657.50 puntos si Lim sa ITF ranking habang nangu­nguna sa listahan si Casper Ruud ng Norway na may 985 puntos kasunod sina Mate Valkusz ng Hungary (977), Orlando Luz ng Brazil (940), Mikael Ymer ng Sweden (910), Miomir Kecmanovic ng Serbia (881), William Blumber ng United States (840), Stefanos Tsitsipas ng Greece (779) at Felix Auger-Aliassime ng Canada (740).
