MANILA, Philippines – Pinapangarap ni Jewel Angelo Albo na maging susunod na Filipino badminton player na nakapaglaro sa Olympic Games matapos si 1996 Olympian Weena Lim.
Hinuhulaang sisikat sa badminton, nais ng 11-anyos na si Albo na maging miyembro ng Philippine Badminton Association Smash Pilipinas national team at lumaban para sa gold medal sa mga international tournaments kagaya ng Olympics.
Si Albo, inangkin ang mga titulo ng boys’ Under-13 at Under-15 singles sa 2014 Palarong Pambansa, sa Sun Cellular National Juniors Championship, Toby’s tourney at sa Batang Pinoy, ay kasalukuyang sinasanay ng kanyang amang si dating national player Wilfredo Albo na head coach ng team JB sa Taytay, Rizal.
“I always train hard and follow all the directives of my father because I really wanted to be a national player. Everybody likes to be a national player and represent the country especially in the Olympics,” sabi ng Antipolo Immaculate Conception student na si Albo.
“It will be a daunting task to any athlete, but I will give it a try,” dagdag pa ni Albo na gumagamit ng X-Act Babolat racquet. “So, I hope someday , I’ll make it in to the Olympics. I will do my best to make it happen.”
Sinusuportahan ng Babolat, ang pinakaepektibong badminton racquet at equipment provider sa mundo, ang kampanya ni Albo sa mga local at international tournaments.
“We believe that Albo is the future of Philippine badminton and Babolat is here to support him,” wika naman ni Guilly Nocom ng Babolat.
