MANILA, Philippines – Pormal nang inihayag kahapon ni Chito Salud ang kanyang pagbibitiw bilang PBA Commissioner.
“With due and respectful notice to our team owners and board of governors, I have decided to step down and relinquish my position as PBA Commissioner at the end of this season,” ani Salud.
Sa pamamahala ni Salud ay nagpatuloy ang pagiging top sports entertainment ng liga sa bansa kung saan bumasag ito ng record sa gates at TV ratings sa pakikipagtulungan sa TV5.
Sa kanyang liderato rin ang muling paglalaro ng bansa sa 2014 World Cup mula sa pagsikwat ng Gilas Pilipinas sa silver medal ng 2013 FIBA-Asia Men’s Championships.
Si Salud ang pumalit kay Sonny Barrios noong 2010 bilang pang-walong PBA Commissioner.
“After five years as Commissioner, I believe the time is right to pass the baton to a new and fresh leadership, a fresh face with afresh voice and fresh ideas that will take the league to greater heights,” sabi ni Salud, isang abogado na nagsilbing presidente ng National Home Mortgage Finance Corp. at ng Natural Resources Development Corp.
Ang ama ni Salud na si Atty. Rudy Salud ay dati ring PBA Commissioner.
