PNP disowns fake memo on SRI cancellation
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has denied the existence of a memorandum canceling the Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) for 2024, calling the circulating document “fake news.”
The PNP assured its personnel that the SRI for this year is being processed.
The Finance Service, in coordination with the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management, is working to ensure the release of the SRI to all qualified PNP personnel.
“The fiscal directive, approved by the chief PNP, is guiding the Directorate for Comptrollership to facilitate the smooth implementation and release of funding for the SRI,” the statement said.
The PNP urged the public, especially its personnel, to exercise caution when encountering unverified information that undermines the police organization’s integrity.
An investigation has been launched to identify those responsible for disseminating the false information, with the PNP vowing to file charges against people found accountable for spreading the fake memorandum.
“The PNP remains committed to transparency and accountability. Any official announcements or communications will be disseminated through proper and verified channels,” it said.
The SRI is a one-time grant to government personnel as recognition for their service.
