MANILA, Philippines — Isang presidential aspirant ang nagpositibo sa nakamamatay na COVID-19 isang buwan bago magsimula ang opisyal na campaign period para sa 2022 national elections.
Sa kanyang Twitter account, ibinahagi ni Sen. Panfilo Lacson na tinamaan na rin siya ng COVID-19 — ito habang dahan-dahang dumarami ang mas nakahahawang Omicron variant sa Pilipinas.

Huwebes lang nang kumuha ng isa pang swab test si Lacson dahil sa "incompetence" ng mga kinauukulan at tagal ng resulta ng nauna niyang pagpapasuri, lalo na't may comorbidity ang kanyang asawa na mas delikado sa COVID-19.
Ikinainis ni Lacson ang tagal ng kanyang mga naunang COVID-19 tests lalo na't isang araw lang ay nakuha na ito agad ng kanyang anak, na nagpa-test din noong Miyerkules ng hapon.

Una nang sinabi ng senador na nag-isolate siya matapos ma-expose sa anak na nagpositibo sa COVID-19. Kaugnay nito, nakaramdam siya ng lagnat, sakit ng lalamunan, sipon at ubo.
"I also have all three Moderna shots, so I’m hoping for the best. While definitely unintended, daily infection reports must be much less that what they actually are on the ground," banggit niya sa hiwalay na paskil pagdating sa kanyang vaccination status.
Bukod pa rito, nagpositibo rin sa COVID-19 ang isa niyang colleage sa Senado na si Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian.
"This is to inform the public that I tested positive for COVID-19 today. Following strict health protocols, I went on self-quarantine away from family, friends and the public," wika ng senatorial reelectionist kanina.
"So far, I am only experiencing mild symptoms from the virus and this goes to show that the vaccines are effective and working against it. I enjoin everyone to get your booster shots right away."
