'Emergency use' ng Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines sa 12-anyos pataas aprubado na

MANILA, Philippines — Pahihintulutan na ng Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ang emergency use ng COVID-19 vaccines ng Pfizer-BioNTech para sa mas maraming hanay ng mga menor de edad.

Ito ang kinumpirma ng Department of Health (DOH) ngayong Martes sa pamamagitan ng inilabas na revised emergency use authorization (EUA) ng naturang gamot.

Sa dokumento ng FDA na pinetsahang ika-28 ng Mayo, 2021, sinasabi ang sumusunod: 

"After due consideration, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) hereby revises the EUA granted to Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine to reflect requested change in the indication," ayon sa FDA.

"The Pfizer- BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine shall be administered only by vaccination providers, and used only to prevent COVID-19 in individuals ages 12 and older."

Kahit pwede na ang Pfizer sa 12-15-year-olds, sinabi ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III sa isang ulat sa Inquirer.net na pwede lang silang maturukan ngayon kung meron silang comorbidities pasok sa A3 prioritization ng gobyerno. Aniya, kulang pa raw kasi ang suplay ng mga bakuna ngayon.

Bago ito, tanging sa mga edad 16-anyos pataas lang ang pinapayagang maturukan ng nasabing bakuna.

"While we welcome more vaccines that are approved for children and adolescents, due to limited vaccine supply, our vaccination strategy remains the same — prioritize the vulnerable and adhere to our prioritization framework," ani Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire kanina.

"The general consensus of our vaccine experts is to revisit pediatric and adolescent vaccination once our vaccine supply has stabilized. Vaccine Cluster through Sec. Charlie [Galvez] is doing all they can to secure the doses necessary to vaccinate the eligible population for free."

Una nang nasabi ni Commission on Higher Education Prospero de Vera na nagpulong sila ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) para mabakunahan na laban sa COVID-19 ang mga estudyante, bagay na magpapabilis asa face-to-face classes.

Matatandaang Marso 2020 pa naantala ang harapang mga klase simula nang unang ipatupad ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang community quarantine sa Metro Manila.

Sa huling tala ng DOH, Lunes, umabot na sa 1,276,004 ang tinatamaan ng COVID-19 sa Pilipinas. Sa bilang na 'yan, patay na ang 21,969 katao.
