Direk Wenn malaki ang bilib sa MMFF movie ni Vice Ganda

Ayaw mag-comment this early ng consistent box office director na si Wenn Deramas, which among the entries in this year’s Metro Manila Filmfest (MMFF) will emerge top grosser.

Ilang entries na ni Direk Wenn ang nag-emerge na top grosser sa yearly MMFF, the last of which was The Ama­zing Praybeyt Benjamin, which starred Vice Ganda.

May MMFF entry this year si Direk Wenn ang Beauty and The Beastie, co-starring together for the first time sina Vice Ganda at Coco Martin, plus sina James Reid and Nadine Lustre, na malaki ang tsansang maging top grosser.

Bagama’t may ibang nagke-claim na tiyak nang sila ang number one.

As Direk Wenn said: “Hintayin na lang natin ang big day, when i-announce na ang tunay na top grosser.”

MMFF wala masyadong kaingay-ingay

Wait nga pala, Salve A., ‘di mo ba napupunang parang walang masyadong ingay ang darating na MMFF?

Unlike in the past years na wari mo’y aligaga na ang lahat ng mga taga-showbiz, especially, simply because they all consider the yearly filmfest an event na dapat paghandaan taun-taon.

Guess whom Sarah Carlos, who plays a kontrabida in the top series, Pa­ngako Sa ’Yo, had for a chaperone when she guested in the game program, Deal or No Deal, with co-star in Pangako…, Thou Reyes, for her co-player?

Her Dad, no less.

Sarah is on her 20s and studies at the De La Salle University.

Obvious na amused si Luis Manzano, host of Deal or No Deal, that at 20 something, Sarah is still being chaperoned by her Dad.

Iza ‘nagmaldita’ muna bago naging bida

Few probably know na bago naging bida si Iza Calzado sa mga kasalukuyan niyang projects na ginagawa, she was first a kontrabida.

Yes, sa series na Kung Mawawala Ka, which GMA 7 produced and had in the cast, Eddie Garcia, Sunshine Dizon, and Cogie Domingo. Directing the series then was Joel Lamangan.

Naging co-star din siya kina Piolo Pascual at Claudine Barretto in the movie, Milan, which was filmed in Milan, Italy and directed by Olive Lamasan.

Iza played an OFW (overseas Filipino worker) in the movie, na nagkaroon ng bagong karelasyon sa ibang bansa. Piolo played her husband. Na sinundan siya sa Milan, para kumbinsihing bumalik ng Pilipinas.

But her late Dad, choreographer-director Lito Calzado, has always believed that one day soon, magiging star in the true sense if the word is Liza.

And, no doubt, Iza is now.
