‘You still have to bash us with lies and pasikat up to when Dad and I are about to close our eyes’

As we go to press ay hindi pa rin natatapos ang napaka-kontrobersiyal na away among the Barretto family. Sa bawat araw na dumaraan ay patuloy pa itong nadadagdagan ng mga sagot kontra sagot, depensa kontra depensa, na lalo lamang nakapagpapagulo sa kasalukuyang sitwasyon.

Kahapon sa The Buzz ay nadagdag naman sa mga nagbigay ng pahayag ang best friend ni Gret­chen Barretto na si Tanya Montenegro in defense of Greta, of course.

Ibinahagi ni Tanya ang kanyang mga nalalaman at nare-recall during those times na kaklase pa niya si Greta hanggang sa nagsisimula na silang mag-artista pareho.

Ayon kay Tanya, hindi totoo na may yaya and driver pa sina Greta na kontra sa naging pahayag ng eldest among the Barretto sisters na si Gia.

Say ni Tanya, si Joaquin o Jay-Jay daw na kapatid na lalaki nina Greta ang nagda-drive for the family at nabanggit pa noon sa kanya ng kaibigan na never silang nagkaroon ng maid.

May time pa raw na hindi nakabayad ng tuition fee si Greta sa school at hindi pinapayagang makapag-exam. Kinailangan pa ni Tanya na lapitan ang mommy niya para kausapin ang head ng school to allow Greta to take her exams.

Ito ay pagpapasinungaling din sa sinasabi ni Gia na lumaki silang maganda naman ang buhay at nakapag-aaral ng maayos.

Marami pang kuwento si Tanya all in defense of Greta na kung ikaw ay isang ordinary viewer, malilito ka talaga kung sino ba talaga ang nagsasabi ng totoo.

Sa gitna ng lahat ng ito, sinikap ng buong team ng The Buzz na makapanayam si Greta pero sabi nga ni Boy Abunda, na manager ng aktres, talagang ayaw magsalita nito.

Ayon pa kay Kuya Boy, Gretchen is still hur­÷ting at ayon daw sa aktres ay tila bumabalik lahat ng hindi magagandang alaala na kanyang pinagdaanan. Sa ngayon ay mas pipiliin daw muna ni Greta ang manahimik dahil na rin sa labis na sakit na kanyang nadarama.

 At sa tanong daw kay Greta kung bukas ito na makipag-ayos sa ina at kapatid, ang sagot daw ng aktres, “I have no answer for a possibility of reconciliation.”

Samantala, sa The Buzz din kahapon ay nagpadala naman ng bagong statement ang ina ni Greta na si Inday Barretto na binasa ni Kuya Boy on air.

Narito ang statement ni Mommy Inday na binasa ni Kuya Boy:

“Gretchen stop putting yourself up by putting us down. And just remember that my house which you call lessen your criteria was what gave you a roof over your head, food in your stomach, clothes on your back when you were nobody and had nothing.

“All you wanted was to hitch your wagon to a star and the world gave you the moon, as well.

“You’re not contented. You still have to bash us with lies and pasikat up to when Dad and I are about to close our eyes.

“The trouble with lies is you have to tell more lies to back it up.

“Issues and allegations:

1.   Gretchen stopped schooling to stand as breadwinner for the family, to pay for the rent, electricity, food and schooling of her siblings.

ANSWER: At age 12, modeled for a line of clothing. 1,000 pesos per pictorial.

“At 14, she did a movie, 14 Going Steady, 20 thousand per project, followed by two more movies I cannot remember. One or 2 more endorsements maybe of the same amount. A total of 100,000 pesos.

“By the time she joined showbiz, 3 of her siblings were already done with school and well on their way.

“She was only with us for 3 years. By the time she changed into adult roles and earning better, she was already living in with (Joey) Loyzaga.

 â€œAnd our family were already in Ilo-ilo to spend a little time with my 90-year-old mother. And Daddy wanted to go into prawn farming. We may not be rich by her standard but we were never poor.

“Our family had a comfortable lifestyle long before she was born and up to the present. No way will we let our 12-year-old child worked for us. Family and friends can attest to that.”
