MANILA, Philippines — Pormal nang sinampahan ng mga kaso ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) sa Tarlac Regional Trial Court (RTC) ang napatalsik na si Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo dahil sa umano’y paggawa ng material misrepresentation sa kanyang kandidatura noong 2022 elections.

Sa impormasyong ini­hain noong Oktubre 26, inakusahan ng Comelec si Guo ng paglabag sa Section 74 ng Omnibus Election Code (OEC) nang mag­hain ito ng certificate of candidacy (COC) para sa alkalde noong 2022 elections sa kabila ng pagiging Chinese citizen nito.

Matatandaan na noong nakaraang linggo, sinabi ni Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia na pormal na magsasampa ng kaso ang ahensiya laban kay Guo matapos mabigo ang kanyang kampo na magsumite ng motion for reconsideration laban sa naunang resolusyon.

Magugunita na pinagtibay ng Comelec en banc ang rekomendasyon ng law department nito na maghain ng impormasyon laban sa ibinasura ang alkalde sa harap ng isang RTC dahil sa paglabag sa Section 74 ng OEC kaugnay ng Section 262.

Si Guo ay nahaharap sa kasong graft, qualified human trafficking, money laundering, at tax evasion dahil sa umano’y pagkakasangkot niya sa Philip­pines Offshore Ga­ming Ope­rator (POGO) hub sa kanyang bayan.
