MANILA, Philippines — Idineklara kahapon ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) na isang “persona non grata” si Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) president Philip Ella Juico.
Ang nasabing deklarasyon ay mula sa pag-apruba ng POC Executive Board sa rekomendasyon ng Ethics Committee.
“We do not recognize him anymore as president of PATAFA (Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association) until the new election of its president,” ani POC president Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino matapos ang POC Executive Board meeting sa East Ocean Seafood Restaurant sa Pasay City.
Ito ay inaprubahan ng 11 sa 14 miyembro ng POC Executive Board habang nag-abstain sina netball chief Charlie Ho at Phl representative to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski.
Kinatigan ng POC Ethics Committee, pinamumunuan ni rowing association president Patrick Gregorio, ang isinampang harassment case ni national pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena laban kay Juico.
Ayon kay Tolentino, kung hindi bibigyan ni Juico ng endorsement si Obiena para makasali sa mga international competitions, ang POC ang magbibigay nito sa kanya.
Inaasahang lalahok si Obiena sa 31st Southeast Asian Games sa Hanoi, Vietnam sa Mayo at sa 19th Asian Games sa Huangzhou, China sa Setyembre ng 2022.
