MANILA, Philippines — Pormal na iluluklok sa Philippine Sports Hall of Fame (PSHOF) ang 10 sports heroes ng bansa sa isang digital ceremony sa Linggo.
Babanderahan nina ‘Living Legend’ Robert Jaworski, football great Paulino Alcantara, swimmer Eric Buhain, track and field star Elma Muros-Posadas at 1988 Olympic gold medalist Arianne Cerdena ng bowling ang fourth batch ng mga inductees.
Nasa listahan din sina Dionisio Calvo (basketball at football coach), Gertrudes Lozada (swimming), Rogelio Onofre (athletics) at Olympic bronze medalist boxers Leopoldo Serantes at Roel Velasco.
Ang 10 enshrinees ay tatanggap ng P200,000 bawat isa kasama ang eleganteng PSHOF trophy.
“These heroes and their achievements have become a source of pride and inspiration for us and for the future generation of Filipinos,’’ wika ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez.
Si Ramirez ang chairman ng PSHOF at si Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino ang vice chairperson.
Ang PSHOF selection team ay binubuo nina Games and Amusements Board (GAB) chief Abraham ‘Baham’ Mitra, National Sports Association (NSA) representatives Philippine Football Federation secretary general Atty. Ed Gastanes at Philcycling secretary general Atty. Billy Sumagui.
