‘Wag na si Floyd, si Thurman na lang-- Ellerbe
MANILA, Philippines — Hindi ang rematch kay Floyd Mayweather, Jr. ang dapat gawin ni Filipino world eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao kundi ang muling pakikipagtuos kay Keith Thurman.
Ito ang sinabi kahapon ni Leonard Ellerbe, ang Chief Executive Officer ng Mayweather Promotions na tumayong co-promoter ng laban nina Pacquiao at Thurman.
“Keith has a big heart, he fought his behind off tonight but Manny Pacquiao prevailed and he showed you why he is a great fighter and why him and Floyd are the two best fighters of this era,” wika ni Ellerbe sa panayam ng BoxingScene.com.
Tinalo ng 40-anyos na si Pacquiao ang 30-anyos na si Thurman via split decision noong Hulyo 20 sa MGM Grand Garden Arena sa Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I think they need to do the rematch. I think that is the fight to make,” sabi ni Ellerbe kina Pacquiao at Thurman.
Dahil sa kanyang panalo ay matagumpay na naidepensa ni Pacquiao ang kanyang suot na World Boxing Association welterweight crown.
Kamakailan ay hinamon ni Pacquiao ang retiradong si Mayweather para sa isang rematch matapos ang kanilang bakbakan sa social media.
Noong 2015 ay tinalo ni Mayweather si Pacquiao via unanimous decision.
Inamin ni Ellerbe na nahirapan si Mayweather sa istilo ni Pacquiao sa nasabing mega showdown.
“He is awkward. He has a combination of everything. His footwork, fast hands and angles. It is a combination of everything,” obserbasyon ni Ellerbe kay Pacquiao.
