NEW YORK – Sinabi ng New York Knicks nitong Miyerkules na nakita sa bagong x-ray ni Rasheed Wallace sa kaliwang paa na may nabaling buto at inaasahang mawawala siya ng walong linggo pa kaya posibleng hindi na siya makalaro ngayong season.
Si Wallace ay ooperahan ngayong linggo na hindi magandang balita sa team.
“It’s somewhat a blow because I mean he’s gone through so much work to get back out on the floor and now this happens. So the only thing we can do now is think positive in terms of how the surgery is going to turn out and he’s got to rehab back,’’ sabi ni Knicks coach Mike Woodson. “That’s all you can do at this point.’’
Matapos magretiro, nagbalik ang 38-gulang na si Wallace mula sa two-year retirement para samahan ang Knicks ngayong season at nag-average ng 7.2 points sa paglalaro ng 20 games upang tulungan ang Knicks sa 17-5 start.
Matagal na siyang hindi nakakalaro at ayon sa Knicks, lumala ang kanyang injury sa kaliwang paa.
“When we were able to actually get him on the floor, he was pretty good for our ballclub. But hey, that’s in the past. We’ve got to move forward,’’ sabi ni Woodson. “It’s a blow I’m sure for him mentally because he wanted to play and so it’s a setback. He’s just got to have the surgery and we go from there.’’
Dahil posibleng hindi na makabalik si Wallace ngayong season, kinuha ng Knicks si forward Kenyon Martin para sa 10-day contract noong nakaraang linggo.
