After twenty-seven years, muling magbabalik ang Penthouse Live nina Pops Fernandez and Martin Nievera but this time, not a TV show but a concert.
Titled Penthouse. . .Live The Reunion, Pops will be producing the concert under her DSL Productions and will be coinciding the Concert Queen’s birthday.
“We’ve been planning the reunion for a long time,” kwento ni Pops kung paano nabuo ang concert nang makatsikahan namin siya kahapon sa Jet 7 Bistro sa Presidential Tower, Timog, “actually dapat, party lang siya and then I said, “let’s put up a mini-show na.”
Sa mga hindi nakakaalam, ang Penthouse Live ang first ever TV show nina Pops and Martin. Dito sila nagkakilala, naging magkaibigan, nagkaibigan, at nagpakasal later on. Nagkaroon sila ng dalawang anak, sina Ram and Robin. But the marriage didn’t last long dahil naghiwalay din sila after 13 years at ngayon ay annulled na.
The show was very popular back then na halos lahat ng artista noon ay gustong mag-guest sa kanila.
“All the shows that you see now, including ASAP, including The Buzz, including all the shows you see now, ang peg nila, Penthouse Live,” sabi ni Martin.
“I wanted Penthouse to be a TV show, not a concert. Pops wanted it to be a concert, but I wanted it to be a TV show, maybe on ABS-CBN, to do a show, to do an actual, maybe one month of Penthouse Live on TV,” sabi ni Martin.
How about Pops? Gusto rin ba niyang magbalik ang Penthouse Live nila on TV?
“We’ve always wanted to. It’s easy for me to work with Martin, eh. So, okay lang ‘yun,” she said.
Pops and Martin are both so thankful sa Penthouse Live dahil napakarami nilang natutunan dito at dito nga nagsimula ang lahat-lahat sa kanilang career.
“We were just two barely new, innocent, I didn’t know what I was doing then, virgin until later on,” natatawang sabi ni Pops.
“Whatever it is, I have to thank this show for actually paving the path for me in showbiz. I did everything kasi, I started as a recording artist, and then I did movies, tapos ‘yun pala, ang magiging strength ko pala is hosting and doing concerts. So, I wouldn’t have known that if not for Penthouse,” patuloy ni Pops.
Dugtong naman ni Martin, “And I wouldn’t have met Pops and had a beautiful family that I have.”
Hirit ulit ni Pops, “I’m the best thing that ever happened (to Martin), second to Robin and Ram.”
Wala na bang spark silang nararamdaman for each other?
“No,” sabi ni Martin. “Now that you’re asking it, no. But don’t ask and maybe there’d be a spark.”
Seriously, say ni Martin, “we just had grown up and we’ve matured to this point of our lives.”
Siyempre, sa concert ay kasama pa rin nila ang mga dating kasama nila sa Penthouse Live tulad nina Nanette Inventor (Donya Buding) at ang boy-group dati ni Jojo Alejar, ang Jojo Alejar and the Tigers plus a lot of surprise guests.
Rowell Santiago will be directing the show at ang musical director naman ay si Homer Flores.
