CEBU, Philippines — The Don Bosco Cebu Alumni Basketball League (DBCABL) selection outclassed the Magis team of Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association, 75-66, to emerge as champions of the inaugural SHAABAA Inter-Alumni Invitational Games on Sunday, July 14, at the Benedicto College gymnasium along A.S. Fortuna Street in Mandaue City.

John Velasco shepherded the Bosconians to title glory with 23 points and one assist.

Kristian Henry Alejandrino and Chrissar Llegunas also played key roles with 25 points in between them.

Franco Te led the Magis with 15 points, while Bernard Chioson and Bradley Bacaltos nailed 13 markers apiece in a losing effort.

In the battle for third place, the SHAABAA Eagles rode on the scintillating 30-point show by Rendell Senining and 24 points from Benedict Andre Chua as they upended the University of San Carlos-North Alumni Basketball Conference (USC-NABC), 95-87.

Senining also had five rebounds, eight assists, four steals and a block while Chua added four rebounds, one assist, and one block.

Elddie Cabahug netted 19 points, while Ervin Lopena and Jair Igna each scored 10 underscoring the Eagles’ well-balanced attack.

King Osabel posted double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds laced with six assists. Anthony Romaguera tallied 15 markers while Enrico Llanto and Gio Pardillo finished with identical 12 points but their efforts went down the drain for the Carolinians. — (FREEMAN)
