Vietnam SEA Games magsisilbing preparasyon ng Team Philippines sa Hangzhou Asian at Paris Olympics

MANILA, Philippines — Masusukat sa 31st Southeast Asian Games sa Hanoi, Vietnam ang kahandaan ng mga Pinoy athletes para sa 19th Asian Games sa Hangzhou,China at sa 2024 Olympic Games sa Paris, France.

Ito ang pahayag ni Phi­lippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez sa kasalukuyang kampanya ng mga atleta sa Vietnam SEA Games.

“We are expecting that the SEA Games will be a great exposure for our athletes going to the Asian Games up to the Olympics just like what we did last time,’’ ani Ramirez.

Solidong suporta ang ibinigay ng PSC sa 641 atleta na nagdedepensa ng SEA Games overall championship sa Vietnam.

Matapos makamit ang overall crown noong 2019 Manila SEA Games ay binuhat naman ni weightlif­ter Hidilyn Diaz ang kauna-unahang gold medal ng bansa sa Olympics nang magreyna sa women’s 55-kilogram division sa Tokyo, Japan noong nakaraang taon.

Nagmula ang tagum­pay ni Diaz sa pagsuporta ng sports agency sa mga national athletes simula noong 2018 Asian Games sa Indonesia hanggang 2019 Manila SEA Games.

“Our medalists who will go through qualification for the 2024 Olympics will get the preparation that they need here in the SEA Games, in the Asian Games and other high-level international games,’’ ani Ramirez.

Kasabay ng pagbaba sa puwesto ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa Hun­yo ay ang pag-alis ng 71-an­yos na si Ramirez sa top post ng PSC.
