3 Pinoy netters laglag agad

MANILA, Philippines – Tatlong Pinoy netters ang maagang namaalam sa kontensiyon matapos yumuko sa kani-kanilang opening-round matches sa $75,000 ATP Challenger Philippine Open na ginaganap sa Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Unang tumupi si Alberto Lim Jr. na lumasap ng 4-6, 0-6 kabiguan sa kamay ni David Guez ng France habang hindi rin umubra sina Francis Casey Alcantara at Jeson Patrombon kontra kina World No. 207 Amir Weintraub ng Israel (1-6, 3-6) at fifth seed Kimer Coppejans ng Belgium (2-6, 2-6), ayon sa pagkakasunod.

“The field is really tough. Yung makapaglaro lang sa main draw kasama ang mga malalakas na players tulad nila, sobrang suwerte na namin,” wika ni Alcantara na dating Australian Open juniors doubles champion.

Dahil dito, naiwan ang pasanin sa balikat ni Filipino-American Ruben Gonzales na nakatakdang makipagtuos kay Igor Sijsling ng Netherlands ngayon.

Umabante sa second round sina top seed Luca Vanni ng Italy, na namayani kay Frederico Ferrerira Silva ng Portugal, 6-3, 6-2 at Davis Cupper Go Soeda ng Japan, na nanaig naman kay Roberto Marcora ng Italy, 7-6 (4), 6-1.

Pasok din sa susunod na yugto si Oriol Roca Batalla ng Spain na sinorpresa si eighth seed Somdev Devvarman ng India, 7-5, 6-7 (0), 7-6 (4).
