Foton manghihiram ng players para sa AVC meet

MANILA, Philippines – Paghahandaan ng Foton Tornadoes ang mas ma­lalaking torneong lalahukan nito sa susunod na taon kabilang na ang kanilang pagsabak sa Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Club Championship na gaganapin sa Manila sa Setyembre.

Nakuha ng Tornadoes ang karapatang katawanin ang bansa sa naturang AVC event matapos magkampeon sa Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix champion kamakailan kung saan hinubaran nito ng korona ang Petron Blaze Spikers.

Dahil sa malakasang laro sa AVC, humiling ang Foton sa ibang koponan na magpahiram ng mga manla­laro nito upang higit na mapalakas ang kanilang lineup.

“This is not just about Foton as we will carry the country’s name in this competition and as early as now, I have already requested help from the other teams to lend us some players to reinforce our team for the AVC Club championship,” pahayag ni team manager Alvin Lu.

Magsasagawa ang Foton ng invitational tryout sa susunod na taon upang makapili ng mga manlalarong isasama nito sa kanilang koponan.

Target sana ng Foton na kunin si Dindin San-tiago-Manabat ngunit hindi na makapaglalaro ang 6-foot-2 middle blocker dahil sa kanyang pagdadalang-tao.

Wala pa ring linaw kung makapaglalaro sina Foton imports Lindsay Stalzer at Katie Messing sa AVC.

“We already saw what happened last year with Petron who represented the country. Petron is a very strong team already but the competition there is stronger with world-class players playing in the tournament. I am happy that all  the teams have agreed to our request,” ani  Lu. (CCo)
