Torres tiwala sa powerlifters na mag-uuwi ng ginto sa World Championship

MANILA, Philippines – Isang palaban na four-man team ang isasabak ng Pilipinas para sa 2015 World Junior & Sub-Junior Powerlifting Championship sa Prague, Czech Republic.

Kumpiyansa ang Po­werlifting Association of the Philippines na makapag-uwi ng gold medal sina Regie Ramirez, Jasmine Martin, Joan Masangkay at Jeremy Reign Bautista para sa torneong nakatakda sa Agoto 31 hanggang Setyembre 5.

“We want to make sure na ang lahat ng ipadadala natin ay makakamedalya. We want that our athletes are all deserving,” wika ni powerlifting association president Eddie Torres kahapon sa Philippine Sportswriters Association forum sa Shakey’s Malate.

Kumamada ang apat na powerlifters ng mga gold medals sa nakaraang Asian Powerlifting Cham­pionship sa Hong Kong.

Kabuuang 223 atleta ang lalahok sa nasabing two-category event na hinati sa Sub-Junior (14-18-anyos) at Junior (19-23-an­yos).

Lalaban sina Ramirez (men’s 59 kg) at Martin (women’s 47 kg) sa Juniors category at kakampanya sina Bautista (women’s 47 kg) at Masangkay women’s 43 kg) sa Sub-Juniors side.

Sinabi ni Chef De Mission Aspi Calagopi na ito ang unang pagkakataon na lalahok sina Masangkay at Bautista sa world meet.
