Arcilla, Capadocia pasok sa semis

MANILA, Philippines - Pinatibay nina Johnny Arcilla at Marian Jade Capadocia ang pagdedepensa sa kanilang mga korona nang makapasok sa semifinals ng 33rd Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open na inihahandog ng Cebuana Lhuillier at Metro Global Holdings kahapon sa PCA indoor courts sa Paco, Manila.

Madaling iniligpit ng 34-anyos na si Arcilla, ang second seed sa torneo, ang 15-anyos at No. 6 na si Alberto Lim Jr., 6-4, 6-0, sa men’s division.

“Tinalo na niya ako sa Philippine National Games last May kaya focus talaga ako sa laro. Iniwasan ko lang na maunahan niya ako,” sabi ni Arcilla, hangad ang kanyang pang-siyam na PCA Open title.

Lalabanan ni Arcilla sa semifinals ang magwawagi kina No. 2 Elbert Anasta at No. 5 Rolando Ruel Jr. sa torneong itinataguyod ng Dunlop, Fujidenzo/Whirlpool, Babolat, Hon. Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao, Head, Accel, Malate Bayview Mansion, Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils. Inc., Philippine Prudential Life Insurance Company Inc. at Seno Hardware.

Umabante rin sa semifinals si top seed Patrick John Tierro matapos sibakin si No. 7 Marc Anthony Alcoseba, 6-4, 6-0, para makatapat ang mananalo kina No. 3 Marc Anthony Reyes at No. 9 Ronard Joven.

Dinomina naman ng 19-anyos na si Capadocia si  No. 7 Christine Patrimonio, 6-1, 6-4, patungo sa semifinals ng women’s class.

Lalabanan ni Capadocia si sixth pick Marinel Rudas, humataw ng 6-1, 6-4 panalo kay No. 3 Edilyn Balanga.

Ginulat ni No. 5 Hannah Grace Espinosa si second seed Clarice Patrimonio, 7-6 (0), 2-6, 6-3, sa event na suportado rin ng United Auctioneers Inc. Foton, Philippine Sports Commission, TLH Sports & Wellness Center/Solinco at Avida Land Corporation

Lalabanan ni Espinosa sa semis si No. 4 Maika Tanpoco na kumuha ng 6-0, 6-1 panalo kay unseeded Jzash Eale Canja.
