P7.9M cash incentives ibinigay ng PAGCOR sa mga national athletes at coaches

MANILA, Philippines – Bilang pagpapaki­ta ng kanilang suporta sa Philippine sports ay nag­bigay ang Philippine Amusements and Gaming Cor­po­ration (PAGCOR) ng ka­buuang P7.9 milyon na cash incentives para sa mga national athletes at coaches na nanalo sa mga sinalihang major international competitions nga­yong taon.

Ang P2.5 milyon ay na­punta sa 16-anyos na ar­cher na si Luis Gabriel Mo­reno na nag-uwi ng gintong medalya mula sa 22nd Youth Olympics Games sa Naniing, China noong Agosto.

Ipinamigay naman ng PAGCOR ang P5.4 mil­yon sa 15 national athletes at coaches na kumuha ng gold, silver at bronze medals sa nakaraang 17th Asian Games sa Incheon, Korea noong Setyembre 19 hanggang Oktubre 4.

Sinabi ni PAGCOR pre­sident at COO Jorge Sar­miento na ang natu­rang cash incentives ay na­­ngangahulugan ng pag­bibigay nila ng motibas­yon sa mga atleta sa kanilang pag­katawan sa bansa sa mga susunod na internatio­nal tournaments.

“Rewarding our national athletes after they emerged triumphant in any interna­tional event is not only re­cognizing them for what they have achieved but a demonstration of PAGCOR’s sincere appreciation for the efforts they have exerted to carry the nation proudly on their shoulders,” sa­bi ni Sarmiento.

Ang pagbibigay ng PAGCOR ng insentibo ay alin­sunod sa Republic Act 9064 o mas kilala bilang Sports Benefits and Incentives Act of 2001.

Mula noong Hulyo ng 2010 hanggang Setyembre ng 2014 ay nakapagbi­gay ang PAGCOR ng ha­los P50 milyong cash in­centives.

Pinuri ni Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richie Garcia ang pag­papahalaga ng PAGCOR sa Philippine sports.

“Our sports programs are up and running and out athletes are now more inspired to perform beyond their capacity as they know that their sacrifices are fully recognized and aptly re­war­ded by the government,” wika ni Garcia.
