Pinoy badminton players posible sa Olympic Games - Benitez
MANILA, Philippines - Matapos ang pagsikwat nina Peter Gabriel Magnaye at Paul Jefferson Vivas sa Swiss International doubles open title, naniniwala ang Philippine Badminton Association (PBA) na maaaring mangyari ang hinahangad nilang paglalaro sa Olympic Games.
Plano ng PBA na magpadala ng national team sa iba’t ibang Badminton World Federation (BWF) sanctioned tournaments para makaipon ng puntos na magpapalakas sa pag-asa ng mga Pinoy na makakuha ng tiket para sa 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics.
“As what I’ve been telling everyone, there’s life in badminton. It only means that we can excel internationally in this sports,” sabi ni PBA Secretary-General Alfredo ‘Albee’ Benitez. “That title will inspire us in the PBA to work harder and support badminton development.”
Sa ilalim ng liderato nina chairman Manny V. Pangilinan, president Jejomar Binay at Benitez, nakapaglahok ang badminton body ng Philippine team sa mga torneo sa Europe, Australia at Asia.
Pinuri ni Benitez ang Congressman ng Negros Occidental, ang tagumpay nina Magnaye at Vivas para makuha ang men’s open doubles crown.
“I’m happy that Magnaye and Vivas along with their fellow players there didn’t give up. The PBA is happy with their attitude and that’s what we needed to win. They will be rewarded for their outstanding effort,” wika ni Benitez.
