Yao, Shanghai Sharks dumating na

MANILA, Philippines - Sakay ng Philippine Airlines flight PR 337, dumating sa bansa si dating NBA superstar Yao Ming, ang chairman ng Shanghai Sharks sa Chinese Basketball Association.

Kasama ng 7-foot-6 Chi­nese cager ang Sharks para sa kanilang two-day Friendship Games.

Itatapat ng eight-time NBA All Star at dating Hous­­ton Rockets player ang kanyang Sharks kontra sa Gilas Pilipinas II ni Chot Reyes bukas sa ganap na alas-7:30 ng gabi sa SM MOA Arena. 

Makakaharap naman ng Sharks ang PBA All Star Selection ni Franz Pu­maren sa Martes sa ganap na alas-7:30 ng ga­bi sa Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Ang nasabing mga ex­hibition games ay itinata­gu­yod ng SM Mall of Asia Arena, Smart Araneta Co­liseum, ATC Pharmaceuticals, Friends of the Philippines Foundation, Anchorland, Vikings at Oishi.

Ito ay ipapalabas sa TV 5, ang major sponsor ng nasabing event.

Magdaraos ang Sharks ng isang basketball clinic para sa mga ba­tang kapus-palad sa Mul­ti-Purpose Arena ng PSC-Philsports sa Pasig City. 

Bibisita si Yao at ang Sharks kay  Vice Pre­sident Jejomar Binay sa kanyang opisina sa Coconut Palace para sa isang courtesy call.

“This will be the start of friendly matches, cli­nics and other close interaction with powerhouse coun­tries in sports. Our na­tional as well as the grass­roots program will be­­nefit from learning from the best,” wika ni Phi­lippine Sports Com­mis­sion chair­man Richie Gar­cia.
