SBP, NGAP hinirang na NSA of the Year ng PSA
MANILA, Philippines - Dahil sa kanilang magandang ipinakita noong nakaraang taon, napili ang Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) at ang National Golf Association of the Philippines (NGAP) bilang NSA of the Year ng Philippine SportswriÂters Association (PSA).
Magsasalo ang SBP at ang NGAP sa entablado biÂlang mga co-awardees ng NSA of the Year plum sa PSA-Milo Annual Awards Night sa Sabado sa grand ballÂroom ng Manila Hotel.
“The (NSA of the Year) award is not just about the sucÂcess or accomplishments of a sports body, but also reflects on the programs that contribute to its growth and success, which the (PSA) Board believes have been embodied by both the SBP and NGAP,†wika ni PSA president Rey Bancod ng Tempo.
Si sportsman-businessman Manny V. Pangilinan ang responsable sa paglakas ng kanyang sport na nananatiÂling No. 1 sa puso ng mga Filipino sports fans.
Naging direkta naman sa kanyang mga plano si daÂting amateur standout Tommy Manotoc sa NGAP.
Ang mga naunang hinirang na NSA of the Year ay ang Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines, PhiÂlippine Taekwondo Association, Wushu Federation of the Philippines, Philippine Dragon Boat Federation, PhiÂlippine Aquatics Sports Association, Billiards and SnoÂoker Congress of the Philippines at ang Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association.
Ito ang unang pagkakataon na pararangalan ang SBP at ang NGAP ng pinakamatandang media organization sa seremonyang itinataguyod ng San Miguel Corp., LBC, Smart, Globalport 900, the Philippine Basketball Association, ni Senator Chiz Escudero, SM Prime Holdings, Philippine Sports Commission, Rain or Shine, ICTSI at Philippine Golf Tour at Meralco.
Nagkampeon ang Gilas Pilipinas ni coach Chot ReÂyes sa 2012 William Jones Cup basketball tournament maÂtapos ang 14 taon at umabante sa semifinal round ng FIBA-Asia Cup.
Para maibalik ang bansa sa world basketball map, hindi huminto si Pangilinan sa pagsikwat sa hosting rights ng 2013 FIBA-Asia cage meet na magsisilbing qualifier para sa 2014 World Basketball Championship.
