Fuentes magandang laban ang ibibigay kay Nietes

MANILA, Philippines - Nangako si Mexican challenger Moises Fuentes ng magandang laban sa kanilang paghaharap ni Filipino world light flyweight champion Donnie ‘Ahas’ Nietes sa ‘Pinoy Pride XVIII’ sa Marso 2 sa Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.

Sa press conference na idinaos ng ALA Boxing Promotions kahapon sa Shakey’s Malate, Manila, sinabi ni Fuentes na gagawin niya ang lahat para maiuwi ang suot na World Boxing Organization title ni Nietes sa Mexico.

“I expect a really fast fight and it’s going to be a challenging fight,” wika ng 27-anyos na si Fuentes, pinabagsak si dating WBO minimumweight titlist Ivan Calderon via fifth round KO noong Oktubre ng 2012, sa kanyang paghahamon sa 30-anyos na si Nietes.

Kasalukuyang ibina­bandera ng tubong Murcia, Bacolod City na si Nie­tes ang kanyang 31-1-3 win-loss-draw ring record kasama ang 17 knockouts, samantalang taglay ni Fuentes ang kanyang 16-1-0, 8 KOs) card.

Si Nietes ang tanging Fi­lipino boxer na matagum­pay na nakapagdepensa ng kanyang korona ng tatlong beses sa Mexico.

Tinalo ni Nietes sina Me­xican challengers Erik Ramirez, Manuel Vargas at Mario Rodriguez sa Mexico City para sa kanyang ikalawa, ikatlo at ikaapat na sunod na pagtatanggol sa kanyang WBO crown.

Ngunit hindi natatakot ang 24-anyos na si Fuentes sa 32-anyos na si Nietes.

“It’s gonna be a tough fight but I don’t care if I win by knockout or by decision,” sabi ni Fuentes. “It’s my first time to fight a Filipino fighter and I’m hoping to win this fight.”

 Sa isa pang laban, sasagupain ni World Boxing Council International Silver super bantamweight titlist Genesis ‘Azukal’ Servania (19-0-0, 7 Kos) si Indonesian challenger Angky ‘Time Bomb’ Angkota (26-8-1, 14 KOs).
