MANILA, Philippines - Kung may dapat pag-ingatan si unified world super bantamweight champion Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire, Jr. kay Toshiaki ‘Speed King’ Nishioka, ito ay ang right straight ng Japanese challenger.
Ngunit kumpiyansa ang tubong Talibon, Bohol na hindi siya tatamaan nito.
“One thing he will try to do is land the straight that is difficult to do against me,” wika ni Donaire kay Nishioka. “Aside from that, I haven’t seen any tape that he can do damage with.”
Ayon kay Donaire, hindi siya naniniwalang mapupuruhan ng naturang right straight ni Nishioka.
“He did great against Márquez, but Márquez is a lot slower than me. A lot of those punches won’t land with me with power. But we are very worried and very mindful of that advantage he has,” ani Donaire.
Sasagupain ng 29-anyos na si Donaire ang 36-anyos na si Nishioka, ang WBC Emeritus super bantamweight titlist, sa Oktubre 14 (Manila time) sa Home Depot Center sa California, USA.
Idedepensa ni Donaire (29-2-0, 18 KOs) ang kanyang mga hawak na WBO at IBF super bantamweight titles laban kay Nishioka (39-4-3, 24 KOs).
Pag-aagawan din nila ang WBC Diamond super bantamweight crown at ang Ring Magazine belt.
Hindi pa napapabagsak si Nishioka matapos mapatumba ng kanyang kababayang si Masahiko Nakamura sa isang four-round bout noong Pebrero 4, 1995.
“When it comes it comes but the proper game plan will show my power which is what I was known for – lightning fast counters that were knocking people out because they never saw it coming,” ani Donaire. “No matter how tough you are, if you don’t see where it’s coming from, you don’t expect it and it will knock you down.”
Hindi napabagsak ni Donaire ang kanyang mga huling nakatapat na sina Omar Narvaez, Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr. at Jeffrey Mathebula.
Huling nagtala ng isang KO win si Donaire noong Pebrero ng 2011 nang pahigain niya si dating world champion Fernando Montiel sa second round para agawin sa Mexican ang WBO at WBC bantamweight titles.
