MANILA,Philippines - Sila ang pinakabagong koponan sa Philippine Basketball Association at hindi sila inaasahang gagawa ng eksena sa darating na 38th season na magbubukas sa Setyembre 30 sa Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“This is a maiden season for us. We will still go for it,” sabi ni team owner Mikee Romero sa kanyang Global Port, ang nakabili sa prangkisa ng Powerade, kahapon sa PSA forum sa Shakey’s Malate.
“The big question also will is it be this time that records will be broken and a Cinderella team will finally come out of the PBA. Sana kami na nga ‘yung maging Cinderella team. Lalaban kami all the way,” dagdag pa ng Chief Executive Officer ng Harbour Centre.
Para sa 2012 PBA Philippine Cup, ibabandera ng Batang Pier sina scoring champion Gary David at two-time PBA Most Valuable Player Willie Miller.
Nasa Global Port rin sina Rabeh Al-Hussaini, Rey Guevarra, Lordy Tugade, Jondan Salvador, Romel Adducul, Josh Vanlandingham, Alex Crisano, Rudy Lingganay, Val Acuna, Will Antonio, Francis Allera, Mark Yee, Ricky Calimag at James Martinez.
Kaagad na makakasukatan ng Batang Pier ni coach Glenn Capacio ang Ginebra Gin Kings ni mentor Siot Tanquingcen sa Setyembre 30.
Ipaparada ng Ginebra si dating Alaska playmaker LA Tenorio.
