3 Pinoy Olympians pa-London ngayon

MANILA, Philippines - Nakatakdang bumiyahe ngayong gabi sina national shooter Brian Rosario at swimmers Jasmine Alkhaldi at Jessie Khing Lacuna patungong Hong Kong papunta sa London para sa isang training camp bago ang 30th Olympic Games.

Makakasabayan ng tatlong Filipino Olympians ang iba pang atletang lalahok sa 2012 London Games sa nasabing three-week camp na pinangangasiwaan ng London Organizing Committee for Olympic Games (LOCOG).

“It (training camp) will definitely be of great help to our athletes. They will get a feel of how it is to be in the Olympics,” sabi ni Philippine team chief of mission Manny Lopez.

Sasakay sina Rosario, Alkhaldi at Lacuna sa Cathay Pacific flight patu­ngong Hong Kong bago dumiretso sa London mula sa 16-hour trip kasama sina swimming coach Carlos Brosas, shooting mentor Josefina Mauricio-Corral at administrative officer Ar­senic Lacson.

Sinabi ni Lopez, ang first vice-president ng Phi­lip­pine Olympic Committee, na ang pagdalo ng tatlong atleta sa training camp ang magbibigay sa kanila ng pagkakataong maramdaman ang klima sa London bago ang Olympic Games.

Sina weighlifter Hidilyn Diaz, long jumper Marestella Torres, steeplechaser Rene Herrera at boxer Mark Anthony Barriga ang sasama rin sa training camp.

Bibiyahe si Diaz sa Hul­yo 1 kasama si coach An­tonio Agustin, habang sina Torres, Herrera at athletics coach Joseph Sy ay susunod sa Hulyo 4 at sina Barriga at mentor Roel Velasco ay aalis sa Hulyo 5.

Sa Hulyo 19 naman mag­tutungo sa London sina judoka Tomohiko Hoshina, archers Rachel Anne Cabral and Mark Javier, BMX rider Daniel Caluag, cycling official Stephanie Barragan at coaches Chung Jae Hun ng archery at Yasuhiro Sato ng judo.
