PSC makikipagkasundo sa Russia

MANILA, Philippines - Nakatakdang magtungo ang dala­wang matataas na sports officials ng ban­sa sa Moscow, Russia bukas para sa pulong ng Association of National Olympic Committee (ANOC).

Maliban sa pagdalo sa naturang pu­long, sinabi ni Philippine Sports Commis­sion (PSC) chairman Richie Garcia na isang Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) ang kanilang pipirmahan ng kanyang Russian counterpart.

“The most important is the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding bet­ween Russia and the Philippines. So this will be a very good opportunity para sa atin,” sabi kahapon ni Garcia.

Makakasama ni Garcia sa nasabing biyahe sina Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco, Jr. at secretary-general Steve Hontiveros.

“We are open and they are open for our athletes to go to their country and train. That will make our horizon closer in the sense na may mga sports na talagang malakas ang Russia. So puwede nating ipadala doon ang mga atleta natin,” ani Garcia.

Ang tinutukoy na sports ni Garcia kung saan malakas ang Russia ay ang gymnastics, boxing at weightlifting.

Nauna nang nakipagkasundo ang sports commission sa Sports Ministry ng China para makabili ng mas murang sports equipment at makapagsanay ang ilang national athletes.

“Mas madami na tayong pagpipiliang bansa kung saan tayo magpapadala ng mga atleta natin pati na ‘yung ating mga coa­ches and trainers,” ani Garcia.
