Phl tankers lumangoy sa tagumpay

MANILA, Philippines - Kabuuang 12 gold, 15 silver at 9 bronze medals ang inangkin ng mga Filipino swimmers sa 7th Singapore Island Country Club Annual Invitational Swimming Championships.

Ang koponan, na kina­bibilangan ng 15 manlalangoy mula sa Philippine Swimming League (PSL) at Diliman Preparatory School (DPS) Tankers, ay pumangatlo sa swimfest.

Si Mathew Tan mula sa Bicol Ibalong Magayon Club ay nag-uwi ng dala­wang ginto sa 13-14 yrs. old 50-meter backstroke sa oras na 32 segundo at sa 100m backstroke sa tiyempong 1:12:32.

Nagningning naman sa kani-kanilang dibisyon sina Sam Doragos (7-8 category), Trisha Oliveros (11-12) at Jaja Cordero sa (15-17). Sina Doragos at Cordero ay parehong varsity swimmers ng DPS Swimming Center.

Puro papuri ang nasam­bit ng dating senador na si Nikki Coseteng, pangulo ng DPS, para sa koponan.

“Namangha ako sa kanilang fighting spirit, kahit unang pagkakataon pa la­mang nilang lumaban sa international meet,” ani Coseteng.
