Holyfield at Hagler bilib kay Pacquiao
MANILA, Philippines - Dalawang boxing legends ang nagbigay ng babala kay Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez kaugnay sa laban nito kay Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao.
Sinabi kahapon nina Evander Holyfield at Marvelous Marvin Hagler na dapat lamang na handa ang 38-anyos na si Marquez sa gabi ng kanilang banggaan ng 32-anyos na si Pacquiao sa Nobyembre 12 sa MGM Grand sa Las Vegas, Nevada.
“If you fight Manny Pacquiao, you better be ready. If you ain’t ready, you are in trouble because when that bell rings, he is coming,” ani Holyfield. “He is coming and he is going to throw a lot of punches at you.”
Itinuring rin ng 45-anyos na dating world heavyweight titlist si ‘Pacman’ bilang pinakamahusay na boksingero sa kanyang panahon.
“He is, and for a smaller guy to come all the way up in weight and beat bigger guys up to 154 lbs, it says a lot,” wika ni Holyfield, may 44-10-2 win-loss-draw ring record kasama ang 29 KOs.
Sakali namang manalo si Pacquiao kay Marquez sa kanilang ikatlong paghaharap, inaasahan ng 57-anyos na dating world middleweight king na si Hagler (62-3-2, 52 KOs) na maitatakda ang laban ng Filipino boxing icon kay Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (41-0-0, 25 KOs).
“I believe that if they get this thing on, it can really boost up boxing, and bring boxing alive a little bit, because I think that, that’s what we need,” ani Hagler.
Bitbit ng Filipino world eight-division champion ang kanyang 53-3-2 (38 KOs) card, habang dala ni Marquez ang 52-5-1 (28 KOs) para sa napagkasunduan nilang 144-pound catchweight fight.
Idedepensa ng Sarangani Congressman ang kanyang tangan na World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title kontra kay Marquez para sa kanilang ikatlong pagtatapat.
