Lim ayaw magkumpiyansa, Bedans aasinta uli ng panalo vs Chiefs

MANILA, Philippines - Apat na panalo pa ang ka­ilangan ng mga Red Lions para tuluyan nang malapa ang isang outright finals berth.

Subalit hindi masyadong nagkukumpiyansa si coach Frankie Lim.

“We’re not even imagining it,” sabi ni Lim. “Our goal is to win as many games as we can and get enough momentum going into the playoffs.”

Kasalukuyang sumasakay sa isang 12-game winning run ang San Beda College bago makipagkita sa Arellano University ngayong alas-4 ng hapon sa second round ng 86th NCAA men’s basketball tournament sa The Arena sa San Juan.

Huling iginupo ng Red Lions ang Mapua Cardinals, 90-78, noong Setyembre 8.

Sakaling mawalis ng San Beda ang elimination round, awtomatiko nilang masasambot ang unang finals ticket kasama ang pambihirang ‘thrice -to-beat’ incentive sa championship series.

Bagamat wala na sa kanilang kamay ang kapa­laran para sa ikaapat at huling silya sa Final Four, sinabi naman ni Arellano mentor Leo Isaac na ang kanilang kinabukasan ang kanilang pinaghahan­daan.  

“I’m now investing for the future, we’ll just try to be competitive and if we could pull off an upset, why not,” ani Isaac sa Chiefs.

Muling ibabandera ng San Beda sina 6-foot-7 American import Sudan Daniel, Garvo Lanete, Dave Marcelo, Rome Dela Rosa at Jake Pascual katapat sina Adrian Celada at Isiah Ciriacruz ng Arellano.
