Back-to-back title asam ni Corteza

Iloilo City, Philippines --Hangad ni four-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Lee Van Corteza na maging unang back-to-back champion sa The Manny Villar Cup Iloilo leg ngayon sa SM City dito.

Nagpakitang gilas si Corteza na naging dahilan para kilalanin ito bilang top cue artists ‘di lamang dito sa bansa kundi sa buong mundo matapos maghari sa Calabarzon leg ng prestihiyosong island-hopping series na ito na itinaguyod ng Villards: Tulong sa Pagsulong ng Philippine Sports ni Senator Manny Villar.

Para makamit ang puntirya ni Corteza kailangan niyang talunin ang 31 iba pang pool masters, sa pangunguna ni Efren “Bata” Reyes, kasama ni former world no.1 Dennis Orcollo, two-time world champion Ronnie Alcano, at former leg winners Warren Kiamco (Alabang), Gandy Valle (Cebu), Ramil Gallego (Bulacan), Roberto Gomez (Davao and Isabela), Francisco “Django” Bustamante (Baguio) at Rodolfo Luat ( Bacolod ).

Kalahok din sina veteran internationalists Joven Bustamante at Godofredo Ducanes, at mga sumisikat na sina Rene Mar David, Mike Takayama, Michael Feliciano at Egie Geronimo, at ang Women’s World 10-Ball champion na si Rubilen Amit.

Ang mga natitirang slots sa main draw ng tournament na co-organized ng Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP) sa pamumuno ni Atty. Vic Rodriguez at sanctioned ng Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP) ay ibibigay sa top six finishers sa qualifying tournament, na tinawag na Western Visayas Regional Villards Championship, kahapon sa SM Iloilo din.
