Sports officials na ‘junket sa Beijing’ mananagot sa Malacañang

Mananagot sa Malacañang ang mga sports officials na naging ‘junket’ sa katatapos na 29th Olympic Games sa Beijing, China.

Ito ang pahayag kahapon ni Press Sec. Jesus Dureza kaugnay sa sumbong na nakarating sa kan-yang opisina na ilang sports officials ang nagtungo sa 2008 Beijing Games hindi para suportahan ang mga atleta kundi para mamasyal.

“That should be brought to their attention and they should be confronted about it,” wika ni Dureza sa panayam ng DWIZ.

Sa kanyang impormasyon, sinabi ni Dureza na 15 hanggang 16 opisyales lamang ang nakalista sa official delegation ng bansa sa naturang quadrennial event na nilahukan nina national swimmers Miguel Molina, Ryan Arabejo, Daniel Coakley, JB Walsh at Cristel Simms, divers Shiela Mae Perez at Ryan Rexel Fabriga, taekwondo jins Marie Antonette Rivero at Tshomlee Go, boxer Harry Tañamor, archer Mark Javier, shooter Eric Ang, weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz at long jumpers Henry Dagmil at Marestella Torres.

Bukod sa mga pangunahing sports officials ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) at Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), ilang miyembro rin ng Gabinete ni Pangulong Arroyo ang nagtungo sa Beijing, China
