Pinoy rowers sasagwan na

Dadalhin nina Olympian Benjie Tolentino at Joe Rodriguez ang kampanya ng Philippine national rowing squad sa pagsagwan ng rowing competition ng 23rd Southeast Asian Games ngayong alas-8 ng umaga sa La Mesa Dam Reserve sa Quezon City.

 Ang single sculls (women’s heat) ang unang sasagwan sa ganap na alas-8 ng umaga kasunod ang double sculls (men’s heat), lightweight double sculls (women’s heat), lightweight single sculls (men’s heat), single sculls (women’s repechages), double sculls (men’s repechages) at lightweight double sculls (women’s repechages).

 Sa nakaraang SEA Games sa Vietnam noong 2003, sumagwan ng silver medal sina Rodriguez (men’s lightweight single sculls), Alvin Amposta at Nestor Cordova (lightweight double sculls), Benjie Tolentino, Nestor Cor-dova, Mark Anthony Galvez at Jun Alastre (lightweight coxless fours).

 Nag-uwi naman ng bronze medal si Tolentino sa men’s single sculls at sina Cordova at Amposta sa men’s light-weight double sculls.    

 Sa Subic Bay Yacht Club, uumpisahan naman ng RP sailing team ang kanilang paghahangad sa ginto sa ganap na alas-11 ng umaga.

 Ang Nationals ay kinabi-bilangan nina Marjoe Laud, Joseph Jayson Villena, Melvin Delos Santos, Rommel Chavez, Joel Mejarito at Ridgely Balladores. (Russell Cadayona)
