SEAG delegates iwe-welcome sa flag raising ceremony

Isang simple ngunit makulay na flag raising program para sa pormal na pagtanggap sa mga foreign delegates ng 23rd Philippine Southeast Asian Games ngayong umaga sa Rizal Park.

Pangungunahan ni First Gentleman Mike Arroyo, ang Chef de Mission ng Team Philippines, ang tatanggap sa mga athletes, officials, ambassadors at iba pang diplomatic executives na kumakatawan ng 11-member countries.

Inaasahang dadalo rin ang mga miyembro ng SEA Games Federation Council (SEAGFC) at Chef de Missions ng Brunei, Cambodia, Timor Leste, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand at Vietnam.

"The flag-raising event is a special part of the SEA Games since it symbolizes that all the member countries have already arrived and are ready to do battle," ani Mario Tanchanco, head ng liason and protocol committee ng Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHILSOC).

Dadalo rin sina PHILSOC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco Jr., Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez, International Olympic Committee (IOC) representative to the country Frank Elizalde, at Manila Mayor Lito Atienza sa programang magsisimula sa alas-9:00 ng umaga.

Ibibigay ni Mayor Atienza ‘susi ng lungsod’ sa mga Chefs de Mission bago magbigay si Cojuangco ng opening message.

Bilang tugon sa welcome address ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president, magbibigay din ng speech ang kinatawan ng Thailand dahil ang Chiang Mai ang susunod na host sa 2007.

Magbibigayan ng regalo na pangungunahan ni Arroyo pagkatapos ng programa.

May live band na tutugtog ng national anthem ng bawat bansa habang isa-isang itinataas ang kanilang mga bandila.
