World-class competition sa 4th Samsung Best of the Best

Inaasahang world class competition ang ma-tutunghayan sa pagta-tanghal ng ikaapat na edisyon ng Samsung Best of the Best National Taekwondo Champion-ships na gaganapin nga-yon sa Activity Center ng Glorietta sa Makati City sa paglahok ng 21 na mati-tinik na jins mula sa United States.

Makakaliskisan ang kahandaan ng mga mi-yembro ng national team na naghahanda para sa nalalapit na 23rd South-east Asian Games na pinangungunahan nina Marie Antoinette Rivero at Tshomlee Go.

Tinatayang may 400-jins ang makikibahagi sa torneong ito na hinati sa tatlong divisions, ang childrens, junior at seniors divisions, na pawang mga kampeon sa mga regional tournaments mula sa Luzon, Visayas at Minda-nao.

Ayon kay Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) chairman Robert Aventajado, malaking hamon ito para sa mga miyembro ng Pamban-sang koponan dahil po-sibleng mabago ang komposisyon ng national team kung mayroong jins na magpapakitang gilas sa torneong ito.

"We always challenge our players to give their best and we always tell them not to be compla-cent on their position in the national team," ani Aventajado. "The dead-line of Philippine South-east Asian Games Orga-niziong Committee for submission of final line-up is until September 15 so there is a possibility of changing the line-up."

Bukod kay Aventa-jado, binigyang kulay ng press launching ang natu-rang event nina Philippine Olympic Committee presi-dent Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco, ang president ng Samsung at CEO na si Hyuck Jae Shim, at ni Grand Master Sung Chon Hong, vice president ng PTA.

"We are very happy to be holding for the fourth straight year the Sam-sung Best of the Best National Taekwondo Championships. The competition level in this tournament is very high because the participants are gold medalists in their categories," wika ni Grandmaster Jong.

Ang childrens‚ boys at girls division ay may anim na height categories habang ang junior at seniors division ay may anim na weight categories -- ang finweight, flyweight, bantamweight, feather-weight, lightweight at middle heavyweight.

Makikibahagi rin sa torneong ito na inorganisa ng IMG sa pakikipagtulu-ngan ng PTA at supor-tado ng Akari Lights, Aktivade, Bacchus, Ayala Center, The Philippine Star at Solar Sports, ay ang mga miyembro ng Taekwondo Blackbelt Brotherhood and Sorority, AFP at PNP gold medalists at national training pool.
