Ito ang hamon ni Philippine Olympic Committee president Celso Dayrit sa mga Filipino athletes na magpapakita ng aksiyon sa 28th Olympic Games noong Miyerkules ng gabi sa isang informal meeting sa RP headquarters sa Olympic Village dito.

Pito mula sa 16 atleta ang siyang magdadala ng bandila ng bansa sa multi-event sports kasama ang coaches at officials sa pamumuno ni Chef de Mission Steve Hontiveros ang mga tumugon sa hamon ni Dayrit sa pamamagitan ng pagpapatong-patong ng kanilang mga kamay at sabay-sabay ring sumigaw ng "Para sa Bayan!"

Nandoon din sina boxers Harry Tanamor, Violito Payla, Romeo Brin at Chris Camat, swimmer Jaclyn Pangilinan, archer Jasmin Figueroa at long jumper Lerma Bulauitan-Gabito, coach Greg Caliwan at Nolito Velasco (boxing), Ramon Jose Corral (shooting), Anthony Lozada (swimming) at Joseph Sy (athletics).

Hindi naman nakarating ang mga swimmers na sina Miguel Mendoza, Miguel Molina, J.B. Walsh at Timmy Chua dahil sa kani-kanilang ensayo ng gabing iyon, habang kinailangan naman ni shooter Jethro Dionisio na magtungo sa Polyclinic dahil sa pagkaka-roon niya ng stiff neck.

Apat na lahok pa ng Philippines ang kasalukuyang nasa Manila--ito’y sina taekwondo jins Donald David Geisler III, Mary Antoinette Rivero at Tshomlee Go at long-distance runner Eduardo Buenavista.
