Rañola 5th place overall sa Nice, France

Nabigo naman sina Southeast Asian Games most bemedalled athlete at GM-candidate Mark Paragua at NM-candidate Roland Salvador, na masustina ang kanilang winning form sanhi ng kanilang pakikisalo sa 6th to 17th places kung saan kasama nila sina IM Ronald Bancod, NM Rolando Nolte at IM Joseph Sanchez.

Natalo si Paragua kay GM Davor Komljenovic ng Croatia, champion noong nakaraang taon, sa 45 moves ng Scoth Defense habang yumuko si Salvador sa eventual champion na si IM Namig Gouliev ng Azerbaijan matapos ang 68 moves ng Sicilian Defense.

Tinalo ni Bancod si Bjorn Ansner ng Sweden, pinabag-sak ni Cebuano Sanchez si FM Patrick Van Hooland ng Monaco at nanalo si Nolte kay Martyn Pauw ng Netherlands para samahan sina Paragua at Salvador sa fourth group.

Pagkatapos ng tiebreak, si Paragua ang sixth overall, si Bancod ang seventh, si Salvador ang ninth, si Nolte ang 13th at si Sanchez ang 15th.
