Pagdaraos ng Grand Prix Women's Volleyball sa bansa pinuri ni GMA

Pinuri ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ang pagdaraos ng nala-lapit na 2nd leg ng 10th World Grand Prix Women’s Volleyball Championships sa Manila simula sa Hulyo 19-21 sa Araneta Coliseum.

Inimbitahan ang Pangulo na dumalo sa opening ceremonies sa Hulyo 19.

Nakatakdang dumating sa bansa ang Sydney 2000 Olympics silver medalist Russia at bronze medalist Brazil, European champion Germany at Asian powerhouse Japan sa darating na linggo upang lumahok sa isa sa anim na preliminary rounds tuwing weekend ng buwang ito na magsisimula sa Hulyo 12 na ang finals ay gaganapin sa Hongkong mula Agosto 1-4.

"This (World Grand Prix Women’s Volleyball Championship) should foster the spirit of camaraderie, sportsmanship and the international friendship among the competing players from various nations," pahayag ng Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo sa naturang event na han-dog ng New Pagcor, San Miguel Light, Agfa Fil, Red Bull Energy Drink, PCSO, Philippine Sports Commission at Adidas bilang mga major sponsors.

"The exciting world of sports is an integral component to the growth and development of our nation. The qualities of discipline and hard work, teamwork, stamina and preparation, the will to win and sportsmanship, are developed in sports such as volleyball," anang Pangulo.

Ang World Grand Prix Women’s Volleyball Championship ay mag-babalik sa Manila makaraan ang dalawang taong pagliban at bahagi ito ng apat na world-rated women’s volleyball teams sa kanilang preparasyon para sa Women’s World Championship na gaganapin din sa Agosto.

Kabilang din sa mga susuporta sa $1.04-million event bilang donors ay ang Philam Life, Godiva, PLDT, Philweb at Alaska Milk, habang ang Philippine Star, 92.3 Rhythm, DZAR Angel Radyo 1026 at Viva TV ang tri-media partners.
